OreLaw Terms of Service
Effective date: 7 October 2026
1. Operator and scope
Solaris Systems Pty Ltd, trading as Solaris Software (ABN 22 687 040 213), operates OreLaw. In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean that company. "Service" means the OreLaw website, APIs, MCP endpoint and associated research tools, including access through a ChatGPT plugin or another AI client.
Contact: [email protected]
Postal contact: PO Box 1856, Malaga
These terms govern your use of the Service. We make them available before you connect or use the Service, and require acceptance where the access method supports it. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. A person accepting on behalf of an organisation must have authority to bind it.
Your AI client provider's terms also apply to your use of that client's platform. We do not operate ChatGPT and do not act on behalf of OpenAI, the State of Western Australia, a court or any government agency. No affiliation or endorsement is implied.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information. These terms do not replace privacy notices or consent required by law.
2. Research service, not professional advice
OreLaw provides read-only access to public-source information concerning Western Australian mining tenements, holders, court listings and decisions, heritage sites, pastoral stations and related research material.
The Service is a research aid. It does not provide legal, financial, investment, surveying or other professional advice, and using it does not create a solicitor-client, fiduciary or advisory relationship with us.
You must check authoritative sources and obtain appropriate professional advice before relying on information for a transaction, court matter, filing, compliance decision, land-access decision or other consequential action. Do not use the Service as your sole means of tracking hearing dates, limitation periods, expenditure requirements, tenement status or other deadlines and obligations.
3. Public data, accuracy and AI limitations
The Service combines publicly available information with our indexing, extraction, calculations and research summaries. Public-source material may contain errors, omissions, historical entries or delays. Our copy may lag behind the originating record. A source publisher can change or remove information without notice to us.
Automated extraction, entity matching, mapping, search rankings and AI-generated summaries can make mistakes. A summary can omit a qualification, misidentify a party or misstate a decision. An AI client may also alter or misinterpret the results we return. Check the full original decision or record and its current legal status.
Maps, boundaries, overlaps, metrics and research scores are indicative. They are not cadastral surveys, determinations of rights, findings of non-compliance, investment recommendations or predictions of legal outcomes. A missing search result does not establish that a record, right, obligation or proceeding does not exist.
Subject to section 8, we do not warrant or guarantee the accuracy, completeness, currency, reliability, suitability or legal effect of any data, result, summary or calculation. We do not guarantee that the Service will identify every relevant record or that it will produce a particular outcome. No statement here limits a right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded.
4. Permission to use and intellectual property
We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable permission to access and use the Service for lawful research, including business research, subject to these terms and any applicable source licences. This permission applies while your access remains authorised.
We and our licensors retain the intellectual property rights we own in the OreLaw software, source code, branding, interface, original documentation, and original platform material. Those rights do not give us ownership of underlying public facts or third-party source material.
We do not claim ownership of data obtained from publicly available State of Western Australia sources, government records, court decisions or other third-party material. Copyright and other rights in that material remain with the relevant rights holders where they exist. Public availability does not necessarily mean public-domain status or unrestricted reuse.
Source licences, attribution requirements, restrictions on republication and applicable legal restrictions continue to apply. We cannot grant rights broader than the relevant rights holder permits. Preserve required source attribution and do not represent OreLaw-generated summaries as official government or court records.
You retain any rights you have in the text you submit. You give us only the permission reasonably needed to process that text, pass it to a disclosed provider where necessary for the requested feature, and return the result. This does not transfer ownership of your queries or permit unrelated exploitation of them.
Unless a source licence or applicable law permits otherwise, do not copy or distribute our software, remove proprietary notices from our original platform material, or use our branding to imply endorsement. These restrictions do not prevent lawful reuse of underlying public data or exercise of rights granted by its source licence.
5. Acceptable use and credentials
You must not:
- Use the Service unlawfully, breach court suppression or publication restrictions, harass individuals, or use public records for unlawful discrimination, doxxing or other abuse.
- Attempt unauthorised access, compromise security, interfere with other users, or bypass blocks, rate limits or access controls.
- Generate traffic that materially disrupts the Service, evade usage limits through multiple identities or networks, or carry out disruptive bulk extraction. Lawful reuse of public data remains subject to the source licence; these restrictions protect our infrastructure, not ownership of public facts.
- Misrepresent information from the Service as authoritative, or falsely suggest affiliation with us, OpenAI, a court or a government agency.
- Send confidential client material, privileged communications, payment card information, health information, government identity documents, passwords or authentication secrets through public MCP tools.
If we issue a separate integration credential, keep it secure, use it only within its authorised scope, and notify us promptly if it is compromised. You are responsible for your own acts and for activity you authorise, subject to any rights you have under applicable law. We do not require an API key for the public MCP service.
Do not arrange unsupervised reliance on the Service for decisions that require professional judgement. Comply with applicable AI-client rules as well as these terms.
6. Suspension, restrictions and bans
We reserve the right to rate-limit, restrict, suspend or permanently ban access, including by blocking network traffic or revoking an integration credential, where we reasonably believe it is necessary to:
- Address a material or repeated breach of these terms.
- Protect security, service availability, other users or third parties from misuse or harm.
- Comply with law, a court order, or a binding requirement of a provider on which the Service depends.
Restrictions will be proportionate to the circumstances. We may act immediately without advance notice where there is an urgent security or legal concern, active disruption, or a risk that notice would undermine the protection. Otherwise, where practicable, we will give notice and an opportunity to remedy the problem. We may impose a permanent ban for serious or repeated misuse.
You may request a review at [email protected]. We will consider relevant information, although we need not disclose security-sensitive details or information the law prevents us from disclosing. A block on a shared network may affect people using the same network; contact us if you believe a restriction has been applied incorrectly.
Suspension or a ban does not remove any accrued statutory right, refund entitlement or other remedy. It does not revoke rights you independently hold to public-source material.
7. Availability, changes and third parties
Subject to section 8, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not warrant uninterrupted availability, freedom from errors, compatibility with every client, or any particular service level. We may undertake maintenance, change features or data coverage, and discontinue the Service for legitimate operational, security, legal or commercial reasons.
We will give reasonable notice of a material reduction or discontinuation where practicable. If you have paid us for an affected service, applicable law and any agreed paid-service terms govern your remedies. These terms do not remove them.
The Service depends on third-party infrastructure, source publishers and, for some features, AI providers. Those services can fail or change. Links to external services do not imply endorsement, and their own terms and privacy policies apply. We remain responsible for obligations that the law places on us; referring to a third party does not transfer those obligations to you.
8. Australian Consumer Law and other mandatory rights
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies a consumer guarantee, statutory right, remedy or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted or modified. This includes rights under the Australian Consumer Law in Schedule 2 to the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth).
Sections 3, 7 and 9 apply only to the extent permitted by law. They do not override this section. We make no additional contractual warranties beyond those expressly stated or required by law.
9. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, and subject to section 8 and the exceptions below:
- We exclude liability for indirect or consequential loss and loss of profit, revenue, business opportunity or anticipated savings arising from use of, or inability to use, the Service.
- Our total aggregate liability arising from or connected with the Service, whether in contract, tort (including negligence) or otherwise, is limited to the greater of AUD $100 and the amounts you paid us for the Service during the 12 months immediately before the event giving rise to the claim.
These exclusions and the cap do not apply to fraud, wilful misconduct or gross negligence by us, or to any liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded. They do not prevent statutory compensation or other remedies that the law requires us to provide.
The classification of a loss and the enforceability of a limitation depend on applicable law and the circumstances. Nothing requires you to waive a non-excludable right as a condition of access.
10. Ending use and changing these terms
You can stop using the Service at any time and disconnect it through your AI client's settings. Information retention and deletion are addressed in the Privacy Policy.
We may update these terms for changes to the Service, law or genuine operational needs. We will publish a revised effective date and give reasonable notice of material changes where practicable. Changes apply prospectively and do not remove accrued rights. Where a change requires renewed acceptance, we will seek it before applying the change to your use. If you do not agree to the updated terms, stop using the Service.
The provisions concerning intellectual property, accrued obligations, liability and dispute resolution continue to apply after access ends to the extent relevant to prior use.
11. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Western Australia and applicable Commonwealth laws. Subject to any mandatory right to bring proceedings elsewhere, you and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Western Australia.
Please contact [email protected] first so we can try to resolve a dispute. This does not prevent urgent proceedings, a complaint to a regulator, or exercising a statutory right within its time limit.
If a provision is invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to operate to the extent permitted by law. Failure to enforce a provision on one occasion does not waive the right to enforce it later.
